GCDGA Update - Nov 2021

The GCDGA, along with the rest of the world, is trying to return to normalcy. The last couple years of COVID have set us back quite a bit, especially pertaining to Tournaments, Membership, this Website, and community events. In 2021 we finally got tournaments back off the ground, with the return of the Flying Pig Open B-tier event in September and the GCDGA events like the Kickoff at Harbin Park in April, the Burnet Woods Open and the Finale at Lincoln Ridge a couple weeks ago. We had to cancel the Rapid Run C-tier due to Cincy Parks still being under COVID restrictions. It is so sad and inconvenient that the incredible growth of disc golf during these years of virus restrictions has coincided with the Club's inability to meet these demands due to social distancing and the Parks being unavailable for tournaments. Things are looking up for 2022, though!

We are currently looking for a volunteer to manage this Website for the club. If you are interested, please contact us at cincinnatidga@gmail.com or talk to one of the club officers! Our webguys have moved on and we need someone to help us move to online membership signup/management and help us update this website. Facebook is nice for 'what's going on today and tomorrow' but it is not a reliable place where players can go to for planning the year's tournaments, keeping updated on weekly events, or being a one-stop-shop for local disc golf info.

We will be reviving our Membership Drive this year - more on that, soon. This website may be languishing, but the GCDGA and it's membership have been busy improving and expanding disc golf courses in the area over the last year. We have facilitated the rebirth of the Burnet Woods DGC, with 18 concrete tees and soon-to-be-delivered 18 new baskets and signage. We are currently working with the Hamilton County Parks to improve Woodland Mound DGC. Johnson Hills DGC improvements are also ongoing. We are involved in longer term plans for improvements to Harbin DGC and are working with Club members to improve Highland Hills DGC and to install a course at Devou Park in Covington - that's big news!

In the meantime: check out the Facebook sites Greater Cincinnati Disc Golf Association and The Cincy Disc Golfers for what's going on in the local disc golf scene.
